Gil Ferro edited the trailer for the BBC series "Normal People", an adaption of the best selling novel from writer Sally Rooney. "Normal People" is directed by Academy Award nominee Lenny Abrahamson (Room) and Hettie Macdonald.
Set in Ireland in the early 2010s, the 12-part limited series charts the complicated romance between Marianne (Daisy Edgar-Jones) and Connell (Paul Mescal). The trailer sees the pair weave in and out of each other’s lives though high school and college, giving us glimpses at the dramatic push and pull of a teen romance.
"The most exiting about editing this trailer was discovering the chemistry between the lead actors ," says Gil of working on the project. "That, and the great cinematography, by Director of Photography Suzie Lavelle."
The show is shot in a uniquely warm, dreamy, tactile way, so as a viewer it feels almost like walking through someone’s memories; some bright, others fading, some painful, others heartwarming, but all beautifully colored by the echoes or friendship and longing.
"Normal People" is now streaming on Hulu.
