When Director Robert Ascroft wanted to create a music video for longtime friend Dean Wareham, he approached Raoul Germain to see whether they could work together. Dean was the lead guitarist in the American alternative rock band "Galaxie 500". For Raoul, saying 'yes' to the project was the easy part:
"As a longtime fan of Galaxie 500, I was super excited at the chance to create something with Dean.", says Raoul. But shooting in a small room as the sole location presented a quite a few production challenges. All of the unique backgrounds used for the video were part of one very small 25 square foot room.
"Getting the crew, lighting, and camera gear into the space was a tight fit. Lighting set-ups had to be very creative, especially with our use of ultra wide angles.", Raoul remembers. "In the end, as a team, we were able to create something very stylistic that spoke to Dean's take on the classic song."
The video is a classic in its own right, with bold colors, lush backgrounds, and a relaxed intimacy, that matches the silky cover.
